- uofalaw_wife: @SCartierLiebel I wish it for my husband. I feel like our future has been totally ignored. El sucko.
- econwriter5: @SCartierLiebel The second part of your question, "then helped," is key. Plenty of people ask, but hardly any help.
- SCartierLiebel: @econwriter5 Many simply don't know how to help and aren't trained to help for ANY options other than Big Law...not just solo option.
- jeenaesq: @SCartierLiebel No. And, I swore off guidance counselors after High School. That one told me I would never get into college.
- SCartierLiebel: @jeenaesq They,ve got 2 answer to law school w/placement #s for ranking, etc. all to get more students in the door. It's dishonest
- SCartierLiebel: @econwriter5 1 of my students already employed where she wanted to be was told by CSO she would never get a legal job b/c of one C. Yikes.
- mitalpatel: @SCartierLiebel I do. I hear career services is universally disliked at law schools...seems like a systemic problem akin to the Socratic method

The director of career services at UGA Law certainly doesn't help any. She had the audacity to tell me (after I graduated and still hadn't found a job months later) I would need to look into contract work because I wasn't going to find a full time job. Never mind the fact that I couldn't afford to live off the money contract work paid. At the time, I was living out of state with relatives, so if I got work in the state where I held my license, I would've needed to move back and live by myself. Good thing I didn't listen to her. It took me a year and a half, but I finally landed a full time clerkship where I worked for 3 years. Sadly, my next job didn't work out, so I'm now back among the ranks of the unemployed again. Who can I turn to for help? Certainly not her!!!
